We have been watching the process of how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly the past several weeks (thank you miss Donna for the kit!). It has been a fascinating process for all of us to witness. What a testament to the fact that there is a God who designed and created all life.
Ella and Colton loved checking the caterpillar's each day to see how big they grew since the day before and to check to see if they had made their cocoons inside the jar.
Once they made their cocoons it was time to transfer them to their new home, to wait patiently for them to emerge as butterflies.
After 5 long days of waiting..... our first butterfly emerged from its cocoon. It was a pretty exciting day around here. Ella I think was the most excited about it. She would tell ( in her own little language) anyone who would listen all about the butterfly.
We kept them for several days and then it was time to release them out into the "wild". I thought the kids would be sad to see them go, but they were just as fascinated to see them fly away from their "home". They even got to hold one on their finger before it flew away.
Such a fun experience! Highly recommended for all!
